Thinking about picking up a new Apple Watch? It’s never a bad idea to wait until there’s a good deal, and thankfully, those happen with some regularity. The latest model, the Apple Watch Series 6, starts at $399. Despite launching last month, it already has a small price reduction. If that’s a little too expensive, you can drop at least another $120 off the price and buy an Apple Watch SE, which also launched last month.
Of course, the Series 3 is less expensive option, too, as it is the most affordable Apple Watch model to date. It has a starting retail price of $199, but it frequently goes on sale. Regardless of which model you choose, all three models do support watchOS 7. If you’re looking for something to last a few years, though, it’s probably worth spending on at least the Watch SE, as it’s not clear how much longer Apple will deliver software updates to the Series 3.
While I mentioned that Apple Watch deals are a fairly regular occurrence, there will be times where there are no price drops on new models. Though, some sites offer good deals on refurbished models, so we’ll include those when it seems like a smart buy. Photo by Amelia Holowaty Krales / The Verge
Apple Watch Series 3 deals
The regular price for the Series 3 model in 38mm sizing with GPS and Wi-Fi connectivity is $199 ($229 for the 42mm), which is a decent deal itself. Outside of any holiday events, you can expect to see it drop in price occasionally by $20 or $30. If you’re patient, we’ve seen it drop to a mere $129 during Black Friday, though that’s an anomaly for a brand-new unit.
Currently, the Series 3 in 38mm is $169 at both Amazon and Walmart.

Apple Watch SE deals
During its “Time Flies” event in September, Apple released two new watches: Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Series 6. Starting at $279 for a 40mm version or $309 for the 44mm, the Apple Watch SE is a good midrange wearable and shares some features also found on the flagship Series 6 model, such as a built-in accelerometer and hand-washing detection. But it doesn’t have the always-on display found on the Series 5 and Series 6.
Since the Apple Watch SE just launched in September, the wearable has not seen a significant price reduction yet. But there are smaller discounts: Walmart has the Apple Watch SE 40mm with GPS in gold for $269, $10 off its normal price. Amazon also has the 40mm in gold and space gray fore $270, which is $9 off its standard retail price. The 40mm Apple Watch SE with GPS is on sale at Amazon for $270 in gold or space gray, knocking $9 off its retail price.
The 44mm size with GPS in space gray is down to $299, or if you are looking for the 40mm with cellular support, it is also 3 percent off on Amazon, marking the price down to $320.
Apple Watch Series 6 deals
The latest high-end model of the Apple Watch comes in two sizes, 40mm and 44mm, with respective starting costs of $399 and $429. The Apple Watch Series 6 features more sensors than previous models, including a sensor that allows the device to detect the blood oxygen levels in your body.
As with its more affordable sibling, the Apple Watch SE, the Series 6 launched last month and there has not been a ton of discounts on the watch yet. But Amazon and Walmart have a few colors available at a slightly discounted price.
If you are looking for the 40mm model with GPS, it’s available at Amazon it available in red and white for $385. Walmart also has the red and white models on sale for the same price. Normally, the 40mm Series 6 would cost you $399.
Both retailers also have the 44mm version with GPS on sale, too depending on which color you are looking for: Amazon has the red 44mm model on sale for $415 (usually $429). Walmart also has the 44mm in red for $415. But if you aren’t a fan of a bright red watch on your wrist, you can also get the same price on the gold model, too. …Let’s Discuss?
